Keyshia Cole Rocked!
This was my first Humphrey's Concert & won't be my last. I purchased the Keyshia Cole Dinner Package the day tickets went on sale & was thrilled with 1st row seats. Honestly, any seat is a good one in this small venue.
The dinner package gets you better seats, adding $63 (incl tax/tip), & well worth the price. I couldn't finish my filet mignon & dessert was boxed for us. You can bring your cocktails to the show in a plastic cup. There's waitress service from a limited outdoor beverage menu conveniently located on the back of the chair in front of you, except for us in Row 1!
Keyshia's tour in other cities included Keri Hilton, Bobby V, & The Dream. Half hour after the concert was scheduled to begin, I was surprised to hear Keyshia would be out in 15 minutes (actually closer to an hour). Although it wasn't advertised, I assumed her tour would be the same for all cities. I suppose the cost of a show at a small venue imposes a limit on opening acts.
Keyshia gave a stellar 45 minute performance, which is rather short for a $75 ticket. Even so, I was not disappointed.
She's even more beautiful in person than her media photos. She's energetic & attentive to the audience, encouraging everyone to sing & dance with her. She sang her most popular hit songs, instead of promoting her latest CD with less familiar ones. This contributed to my overall satisfaction & downplayed the disappointments cited earlier.
If she added a few more songs & sang the full version of others, it would have extended at least 1/2 hour to her performance. I realize touring is exhausting, especially at the end, but wonder if a schedule change, to accommodate an LA concert the night before, short-changed San Diego fans. The 1.5 hour late start was blamed on LA traffic, but it was probably by design. Our evening began with dinner 2 hours before showtime, but concert only attendees would have returned to their cars with the engines still warm, had the concert started as scheduled.
